Unless you’re on track to becoming a billionaire, I would strongly recommend doing some other work atleast for the next 2 years. It’s possible I’m missing context about your life though, so please ignore my advice if there is such context.

You’re unlikely to figure out what else you care about in life until you actually try things out in the real world. You’ve cleared the first 3-4 tiers in Maslows hierarchy which means you’re now figuring out the fifth one. This requires different skills than the first 4, those are more well defined.

And it’s going to be harder to switch once you’re say 40. It’s possible and I’ve read about people who have done it, but the probability of you dying without ever figuring out the point of your life goes up meaningfully.

I would also highly recommend talking to friends outside of your workplace as you figure out this decision, as their status meters would be wired differently. Especially competitive people but outside your workplace, people who are competing for different goals.

man, this was a dope article to read. Thank you for sharing your perspective, many similarities including my family is from China as well. We see the same silk pj's effect with someone like Conor McGregor. Thankfully I've found internal values & pursuits to keep my love for the game. Been in off-season/ recovery since April. Enjoy your time off bro.
